All around the world, people visit orthodontics to improve the appearance of their teeth using Invisalign or Braces.

This treatment is ideal for teens who need corrective work. Invisalign is a more straightforward option than traditional braces and offers more flexibility. It will help teenagers get on the right track to good dental health.

However, there are a few things that you must know before you visit an Invisalign Dentist. First of all, there will be little or no discomfort while using it. Secondly, consuming color-coated food or drinks is not recommended while putting them on. Moreover, Invisalign is 2x faster than traditional metal braces. It would help if you brushed your Invisalign individually. In some rare cases, you might not be a fit candidate for the props. Therefore, you need to go for metallic braces.

Invisalign has changed the way that teeth alignment is done. No longer are we required to wear wires or brackets on our teeth for several months. With Invisalign, you only need clear plastic aligners to move your teeth straighter direction and give you that beautiful smile. While deciding whether Invisalign is right for you, let us dive deeper into the ten facts you need to know about these teeth straightening procedures. Hence, you know what you can expect.

How does Invisalign treatment work?

Invisalign is a revolutionary technology that straightens teeth without wires or metal brackets. Invisalign aligners, made from transparent, flexible plastic and custom-made for each case, are designed to move your teeth precisely into the correct positions. They are almost invisible when worn.

The aligners are biocompatible and comfortable, fitting comfortably over your teeth. Your orthodontist will design the top and bottom aligners to shift your teeth safely. Each set will be replaced every two weeks. Each group moves your teeth closer together.

After your Invisalign treatment is completed, retainers will be given to you. These retainers will protect your Invisalign clear alignment treatment. For the first few months, you will wear retainers every night. Then, you’ll only need to wear them a few times per week.

Step 1

We’ll assist you in deciding the best course of action on your first visit. Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and then send them to Invisalign.

Step 2

3D imaging technology transforms your bite impressions into custom-made clear and removable aligners. Depending on your needs, you can have as many as 48 aligners in the series or as few as 12.

Step 3

Your first set of aligners will be given to you at your next appointment in the dental clinic in Toronto. Your dentist will likely give you a few more locations before your next visit.

Step 4

Each set of aligners will be worn for approximately two weeks. After that, you can remove them to eat, drink and brush your teeth. Your dentist will check on your progress every six weeks. On average, treatment takes 12 to 18 months 2.

Step 5

Once you have used each set of aligners, your treatment is complete. You will need to wear retainers every night for six months to maintain your straighter smile. Then, your dentist will instruct you to use them only a few times per week.

Limitation of an Invisalign

Although Invisalign can treat various bite problems, it is not as effective as traditional braces. Many patients are curious to find out what Invisalign can do. So, first, braces may be required for a severe overbite. Moreover, your teeth might be too short or pegged teeth that could prevent Invisalign’s proper functioning. Invisalign can’t shift your teeth into the appropriate alignment if they are badly rotten. Invisalign can fix small gaps between teeth. However, braces may be required for significant openings. Invisalign does not allow for the extrusion or intrusion of teeth. Invisalign is not available for patients with prior dental work such as bridges.

Invisalign is available for anyone over 18. Teeth straightening can be beneficial for both young and old. Invisalign works only if all the baby teeth are removed or extracted. Invisalign is ineffective if patients are not willing to wear the aligners for at least 22 hours per day. Consider whether your child is willing and able to follow the instructions before starting orthodontic treatment.

Before you start Invisalign, your gums and teeth should be healthy. Wearing aligners without treating underlying problems first can increase the risk of tooth decay and periodontal diseases. If you have any concerns about your oral health, your dentist should be able to give you clearance. Patients must be able to take care of their aligners and teeth during the entire process. Invisalign patients who don’t follow the guidelines are at risk of developing problems.

Is Invisalign right for you?

It is essential to consider the lifestyle, oral hygiene, orthodontic issues, and other factors when deciding whether Invisalign is right for you. If parents are considering Invisalign for their teenagers, they should think about the likelihood that their child will be able to follow the 20-to-22-hour-per-day schedule. The aligners can be taken out, but the user must be willing to wear them.
