Patient-Centered Care: Strategies for Improving the Hospital Experience

It’s our mission to make our patients positive and provide them a better health care experience. For which we must try to enhance the quality of care at the Hospital in Multan,

and we must try to provide such an environment in which patients can recover very soon and feel comfortable. So we believe that patient-centered care is not just a goal but its continuous journey toward our excellence.

Understanding Patient-Centered Care

Patient-centered care means we are testing our patients with dignity and respect which give mental comfort to our patients and we must involve them to take decision about their health

For example if we provide any kind of therapy to our patient then the doctor must require our mental support and cooperation during this session.

We must know the history behind the patients that helps a lot of doctors to treat us. For which we must take care of the person behind our patient and provide them some financial support.

For example we can give any discount to some deserving poor patients and prove a right step to bring them back towards life. Now I am going to discuss some strategies that we can implement to improve our hospital experience.

Effective Communication

Effective communication is also another way that helps doctors to provide patient-centered care. For example if doctors try to communicate friendly with their patients then it builds up trust in our doctor because he tries to create a supportive environment. Which involves:

  • Active Listening:  The first priority of doctors is to listen to patients’ condition actively without interrupting, showing empathy, which creates a positive environment and the patient feels secure and comfortable.
  • Clear Information: It is the duty of a doctor to provide clear information about diagnoses, and tell them politely about treatment options and to understand about procedures so that they can be ready for the  treatment without any kind of fear, these things helps a lot for patients and their family members to prepare themselves for treatment and helps us to take decisions.

Personalized Care Plans

We must know the fact that every person has their own personality, and doctors treat them differently. For which we try to talk friendly with our patients and tell them about personalized care plans which involve medical history,

For example the disease from which a patient is suffering is from their forefather and transfers genetically into the next generation.

So in this case patients first tell their doctor about their family disease. This approach not only improves health issues but it also enhances our patient satisfaction.

Creating a Comforting Environment

The physical and emotional environment of the hospital plays an important role in the  patient’s medical condition. We aim to create a comforting and healing atmosphere by:

  • Welcoming Spaces: The entrance of the hospital is designed in such a way to  welcome their patients, clean and pleasing spaces that make patients feel comfortable and safe.
  • Family Involvement: The family involvement also plays an important role in the care process of our patient that provides emotional support to our patients and helps us to feel more confident.
  • Emotional Support: If we are providing mental support through our mental health professionals to help patients and minimize the stress and anxiety of hospitalization.

Empowering Patients

Empowering patients means making our patients able to control their healthcare and make right  decisions. We can solve this problem by following these guidelines:

  • Education: We must arrange educational resources and workshops to help our  patients to understand their conditions and treatments.
  • Shared Decision-Making: If we tell our patients about disease and involve patients to take decisions about their treatment that helps us for our recovery.
  • Self-Management Support:  If we are providing some  tools and resources that manage our patients’ health, they can discharge soon because their recovery time decreases, they feel more independent and confident.

Collaborating with Specialists

Collaboration with specialists, such as an internal medicine specialist in Multan, plays an important role in providing best care to our patients.

Which is only possible if by working together with doctors and patients’ family members. We  are trying to convince them that patients receive the best possible treatment from our professional doctor and experts in various fields, so that their specific needs are met.

Final thoughts

Patient-centered care is essential for both patient family and doctor to recover their beloved very soon. We can create a healthcare system that includes all these terms and techniques to fulfill patient needs.

For which we must focus on effective communication, personalized care plans that help patients to know about their condition, and providing them a comforting environment and continuous improvement.
