Diabetes is one of the most common diseases among our elders. The CDC estimates that by 2050, 1 out of 3 adults could have the disease and that around 25% of adults over the age of 65 will be affected. With these predictions, it should be clear to us that we have to take better care of our elderly loved ones and provide them with proper senior care CT. We must stay informed about diabetes and what we can do to prevent it.
Diabetes is a disorder of metabolism that has three main types. Type 1, Type 2 (which is the most common), and Pre-Diabetes. All three types bring complications to a person’s body, such as heart disease, neuropathy, foot problems, and dementia. So, what can we do to prevent diabetes?
The first thing we can do is to track our glucose levels. As we age, we should be on top of our health, which includes checking our glucose to get the A1C test. It is also imperative that we make healthy food choices. Know what types of food are best for you and when to eat them. Lastly, be active. Walking and other forms of exercise can boost glucose levels in older people with diabetes.
