What is a Gallbladder and how does it work?
Your liver is attached to the gallbladder, which is a pear-shaped organ.
Its function is to store and concentrate liver bile, which will then be sent to the small intestinales (duodenum), through the bile conduits. This will be used to break down large fat molecules into smaller droplets, making it easier to digest.
Trouble with the gallbladder can be caused by a blockage of the flow to the bile drains. Gallstones are a common cause. Gallstones form when liquids in the bile harden. Rarely, cancer may also occur in the gallbladder.
Gallbladder problems can be improved with gallbladder replacement. You can also live without one. There are other routes for bile to reach your small intestinale.

How is Gallbladder disease diagnosed in Singapore?
It is used to diagnose gallbladder problems or look for signs and symptoms of gallstones. This involves the use of an ultrasound to show structures in your abdomen.
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
An endoscope, a flexible tube that is thin and fits through the mouth to the stomach, can be used to more precisely detect problems in the gallbladder.
A smaller ultrasound device is then used to obtain a better image of the surrounding gallbladder.
An x-ray of your gallbladder.
Computerized Tomography (CT).
A computerized x-ray imaging technique that uses a small beam of x-rays to hit an individual. It rotates rapidly around the body and generates signals that can be interpreted by the computer to create cross-sectional images or “slices”.
Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP)
MRCP uses a strong magnet field, radio waves, and a device to evaluate the disease of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
This procedure could result in the removal of the gallstone.
This could indicate an infection, jaundice or pancreatitis.
