Oral and dental health is an essential part of all over health to well-being. Poor oral health leads to many dental  diseases like cavities, gums and it is also linked to serious diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Maintaining healthy teeth is a long life commitment. You should learn proper hygiene  habits such as brushing, flossing. It will be  easier to avoid costly dental procedures and long term health issues. 

Link between Oral and General Health

Oral health has risen in importance in recent years. Research has discovered a connection between oral health and underlying systemic conditions. It turns out that a healthy mouth can help you to maintain a healthy body. According to Mayo clinic oral bacteria may be associated with:

   a)  Heart disease

   b)  Premature birth

   c)   Low birth weight

   d)  Endocarditis heart

We use our teeth and mouth a lot, so it is not surprising things can go wrong, especially if you don’t take proper care of your teeth. Most dental and oral problems  can be prevented with proper oral hygiene. You must experience at least one dental disease.

1: Cavities

Cavities are also called caries. A cavity is a hole in the tooth that grows up from tooth decay. Tooth decay can happen at every age, in children, adults or olders. More than 80% of people have at least one cavity. Decay can affect all layers of the tooth. Smooth surface, pit and fissure, and root decay are some types of decay. But in all types of the decay root decay is difficult to treat and prevent. Bacteria in the mouth feed on sugary drinks and foods mixed with acids and carbohydrates. This sticky substance coats the tooth. Without proper brushing, flossing and mouthwash create cavities and holes. 

Tooth decay on the outer surface dont cause pain or symptoms but decay or hole in the root cause toothache, gum swelling or bleeding, swelling mouth, teeth sensitivity. Use of fluoride, fillings, root canal, tooth extraction, and regular visit to dentist or helpful to treat cavities. 

2: Gum diseases

Gum disease, also called periodontitis, is a gum infection that damages the soft tissues, and without treatment it destroys bone which supports your teeth. It’s commonly the result of poor oral health. Healthy gums are firm and pale-pink. Puffy gums, purple gums, gums that bleed easily, bad breath, pus between your teeth and gums, painful chewing,and new space developing between teeth are included in the symptoms of gum diseases. Plaque is a large cause of periodontitis, developing between your teeth and gums. If not treated these deep infections cause a loss of tissues and bone and ultimately one or more teeth. also , damage your immune system. 

3: Sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity is pain or discomfort in teeth as a response to certain stimuli, such as hot or cold temperatures. It may be temporary or permanent, and also affect one or more teeth. You may feel pain at the root of an infected tooth. With sensitive teeth you feel discomforts as a result of certain triggers: hot or cold foods, after brushing or flossing teeth. 

Sometimes,other conditions lead to sensitivity like tooth decay, broken teeth and chipped teeth.choose toothpaste specified for sensitive teeth, use softer brushes and brushing more softly also proved helpful to resolve sensitivity. If home treatments do not work you should visit a dentist. He can help to strengthen the enamel and protect your teeth.  

4: Cracked or broken teeth

If any person experiences pain when chewing food, or tooth sensitivity suddenly it means he has cracked teeth. People often have cracked teeth without releasing it. If a person notices symptoms like feeling pain when eating, chewing or biting, swollen gums around the cracked teeth, and discomforts around the teeth, he must require

 dental treatment.

5: Calculus bridge

This oral disease, also known as tartar, is a yellowish or white deposit which forms on gums and teeth as a result of plaque in a few weeks. Bad  breath, yellowish or white deposition on teeth, descending gum line, tooth decay, are the tartar symptoms. Too much consumption of unhealthy food and precipitation of minerals that are present in plaque are common causes of calculus bridge. Only 40% of tartar can be removed at home by brushing or flossing. At the clinic it can be removed by dentist tools or ultrasonic methods.    

6: Oral cancer

Oral cancer appears as a growth in the mouth that does not go away. Oral cancer includes cancers of lips, tongue, floor of mouth, cheeks, hard and soft palate, and throat. It can be life threatening if not treated at early stages. Common symptoms of oral cancer include  swelling lumps, or other areas inside the mouth. Velvety white or red patches in the mouth. Soreness of throat. Family cancer history, and excessive sun exposure are some common causes of it. According to scientists oral cancer starts when DNA in the cells inside your mouth gets damaged. But some things including your health habits can make you more likely to get it.
